John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has touched a lot of people with his songs. Most of his songs are based on Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Germandorf at Roswell near New Mexico, fell in Love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his new home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. I don't think there's another performer that embodies Colorado such as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. In the year 2011, Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. Through my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting people from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell them you're from Colorado, the first words they'll say is"Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk-based groups was Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had written the song in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew it would become an instant hit in the top 10. Danoff recorded the song within a couple of days of playing on stage in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
